Food Grade Heat Transfer Fluids
Founded in 1988, Paratherm Corporation manufactures food-grade, non-toxic Heat Transfer Fluids (Hot Oils, Thermal Fluids) that provide precise, uniform process temperature control in non-pressurized closed-loop thermal systems to from -40º to +650º F (343ºC). These highly efficient non-fouling NSF, FDA and USDA-Certified food grade fluids are specified in a broad variety of industrial process applications in addition to food processing. Paratherm fluids operate in over 3,000 installations world-wide.
Three types of Food Grade Heat Transfer Fluids based upon temperature senstivity:
- High Temperature Food-Grade Fluid
- Mid-Temperature-Range Food-Grade Fluid
- Low-Temperature-Range Food-Grade Fluid
Paratherm NF® Heat Transfer Fluid
- Non-Fouling
- Completely Non-Toxic
- Service Range of 120°F to 650°F
- #1 Heat Transfer Fluid in Meat, Poultry & Seafood Further Processing
The Paratherm NF® heat transfer fluid was certified food-grade by the FDA and USDA in 1988, and re-certified by the NSF in 2003. The Paratherm NF fluid also carries food-grade certifications from Canada CFIA, New Zealand MAF, and OU kosher.
Completely non-toxic, it is exceptionally safe to use and is easy to dispose. Used fluid can be safely combined with spent lubricating oils and recycled locally (EPA, citation 57FR21524). The NF fluid is specified in a broad variety of applications, world wide. It is tough and durable with a proven record of success under demanding conditions, yet is easy and safe to handle.
The odorless NF® fluid is designed for closed-loop heat transfer systems in heating, cooking, frying, distilling, blanching and drying applications. In poultry further processing, it is the leading and time-tested heat transfer fluid for fully-cooked and IQF lines. It is also approved, recommended or specified by many, if not most, manufacturers of the equipment used in these applications.
Paratherm MR® Heat Transfer Fluid
- Food-Grade (NSF HT-1) Single-Fluid Heating and Cooling of from 36°F to 550°F
- Non-aromatic/low odor composition reduces worker exposure and environmental issues
- Extends low-temperature capabilities of standard hot oil
equipment
The Paratherm MR® mid-range heat transfer fluid is rated for service from 36°F to 550°F. It is efficient across the temperature range, thermally stable and cost-effective. Non-aromatic and non-toxic, the food-grade fluid is safe to use and is easy to dispose. Used or contaminated fluid can be safely combined with spent lubricating oils and recycled locally. Designed for a broad variety of applications such as batch reactors, laminating lines and plastics mold temperature control, the Paratherm MR is tough and durable. Engineered to provide outstanding performance under demanding conditions, it is easy and safe to handle – a pleasant alternative to synthetic aromatic fluids.
Paratherm LR™ Heat Transfer Fluid
- Specialty Chemical Batch Process Equipment
- Pharmaceutical Production Equipment
- Secondary Coolant (“Brine”) Systems
- Continuous Process Applications
In February 2004 the Paratherm LR™, the new heat/chill thermal fluid, received official Food-Grade certification (HT1) from NSF®, the organization that continues the United States Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) rigorous component certification program for food plants.
A non-aqueous chiller fluid, the Paratherm LR is rated for service from –40ºF to +400ºF (-40ºC to 204ºC). Non-aromatic and non-toxic, it has demonstrated levels of versatility and reliability that make it suitable for the toughest processing challenges. Applications range from lower-temperature batch processing (specialty chemicals and pharmaceuticals) to a variety of other specialty heating and cooling requirements.
The LR fluid can also be used as a substitute fluid in secondary coolant (“brine”) systems, where the primary cooling source is ammonia, Freon® or possibly liquid nitrogen. It can be used in condensers and exchangers where water contamination can pose significant safety issues or freezing problems.
The crystal-clear LR fluid is plant-friendly, environmentally safe and problem-free. For disposal users can combine it with other spent lubricating oils and send it to the recycler.
